By the stream, near a bush,
A swift little dog was spotted.
But instead of staying near the shore,
He kept jumping into the water.
Unaware, he soaked his paws,
Not thinking at all – dogs are such fools!
He forgot the river’s ribbon
Is a dangerous place, not one for fun.
There lives both crayfish and fish,
And sometimes a crocodile shows up. Maybe.
Though the cold water has its own pH,
They won’t swim together, not as a match.
Because the pH doesn’t matter at all,
When bad luck gives you a call.
And if you dip your paws in the current,
You won’t know joy, like a Mongol in a yurt.
You’ll disappear quickly in a reptile’s gut,
Though eating dogs – that’s quite a cut.
A wise man once said, using Greek clarity:
You never step twice into the same river’s parity.
